Something To Remember

Sometimes I wonder where you are

How you spend your days

Who you spend them with

It doesn’t hurt as much anymore, but some days I still get lost.

I like to imagine you do too

Today’s the first day I’ve felt okay in a while.

I wanted to remember how it feels in case tomorrow I forget.

The days are long here and the light is short.

I still dream in the color of us

I know there’s so much more out there

I just can’t seem to find my place in it all

Do you remember the day I took you to the rock

The way you crossed your arms against my chest

The way the wind held our bodies together

I’m not sure how much you knew or if you even cared to know

But that changed me

I’m afraid I lost track of time

Seconds stretched for days and days into months

I let myself behind many times

You watched me slip from the light

And held me until you couldn’t

I hoped against hope for the fog to break

But it never did

I wake early in the darkness now, before the birds

I don’t imagine I’ll see you again, but I wanted to thank you

I know the greatest gift you ever gave me were the words you never said

And if you should ever find yourself alone

With the wind pressed heavy against your chest

Remember me.
